From Bach to the Beatles…at Peleș Castle
Saturday, June 24, 2017, from 4 p.m., guitarist Costin Soare, currently on a national tour "From Bach to the Beatles", will give a recital at the The Sound of Music Season", event organized at Peles Castle by the Union of Interpretive Creation of Musicians from Romania and the Peleș National Museum.
In the Music Hall of Peleş Castle, Costin Soare proposes a musical journey that starts from the dances of Bach's Lute Suite in A minor (transcribed for guitar) and, following the thread of the instrument's history, arrives at the stylistic diversity of the 20th century: two arrangements after Yesterday and MICHEL of the famous band The Beatles, made by the most important Japanese composer of the 20th century, Toru Takemitsu; one of the most beautiful pieces written for guitar, an original work with a strong oriental flavor, a ballad composed by the Italian Carlo Domeniconi: Koyunbaba; a South American song, Alfonsina and the sea, composed by Ariel Ramirez; an arrangement of the famous jazz song "A night in Tunisia", made by the great French guitarist Roland Dyens.
Access is by invitation, which can be obtained by writing to: peles.ro@gmail.com
Costin Soare is one of the most appreciated and active Romanian artists, happily combining a beautiful concert career (guitarist and lutenist) with a pedagogical one (professor at the "Dinu Lipatti" National Academy of Music, Bucharest and associate professor at the National University of Music), being also the artistic director of the "Serile de chitara" International Festival. With an experience of 3 national tours to his credit, a CD released in 2014 (Nocturnes and dances) and another in 2017 (Twenty Shades of Music, together with the flautist Ion Bogdan Ştefănescu), permanent member of two chamber ensembles (flute-guitar, with Ion Bogdan Ştefănescu and voice-guitar, with the mezzo-soprano Claudia Codreanu), the guitarist Costin Soare is a tireless promoter of high-quality classical music through an instrument whose intimate voice and repertoire are appreciated by the general public. For his work in 2016, Costin Soare was among the nominees in the Classical Music section of the Alexandrion Foundation's "Matei Brâncoveanu" Awards Gala.
