JAPANESE ARTISTS AT PELEȘ CASTLE

On Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 4 p.m., a recital event will take place in the Peleș Castle Concert Hall, as part of the 6th edition of the "Sound of Music" Season, organized by ExcessMusic, the Peleș National Museum, the Pro Valores Association and Radio Romania Cultural.

The protagonists will be the winners of the 11th edition of the Romania Competition in Tokyo, a competition organized since 2005 by the Romanian Music Society in Japan, a body chaired by Mrs. Kazuko Shimada. Works by: Yasye, Prokofiev, Bartok and Ravel will be performed by violinists: Reika Sakamoto and Ayano Shigematsu. The two will be accompanied by pianist Ioana Enea.

Born in 1997, violinist Reika Sakamoto won First Prize at the International Violin Competition – Brentonico, Italy (2004), the Grand Prize at the 24th Japan Classical Music Competition (2014) and First Prize at the 11th International Music Competition “Romania” in Tokyo (2015). At the age of 15, she began studying under the guidance of maestro Seiji Ozawa. At the age of 17, she was elected concertmaster of the Youth Orchestra led by the great conductor Seiji Ozawa and participated in the Seiji Ozawa Festival in Matsumoto, the Extraordinary Concert at Nijo-jo Castle in Kyoto and the production of the operetta “The Bat”. She is currently a first-year student at Toho Gakuen College.

The young violinist Ayano Shigematsu is a laureate of several competitions: the 4th prize at the 24th Japan Classical Music Competition (2014), she won the 9th Yokohama Competition, she obtained the 2nd prize at the 16th Osaka International Competition, and last year at the 11th "Romania" International Music Competition in Tokyo she obtained the 2nd prize and the prize offered by the Romanian Embassy. In 2013 she was concert master of the Youth Orchestra, in this position performing Beethoven's 9th Symphony at the Musikverein in Vienna. She is currently a student at the Tokyo University of the Arts. .

Pianist Ioana Enea was born in Ploiești, in 1991 and studied piano from the age of 7, with Professor Dr. Sanda Hîrlav-Maistorovici, and is currently a disciple of Maestro Vlad Dimulescu. In 2000 and 2009, she participated in interpretative mastery courses held by Lory Wallfisch (USA), and in the spring of 2009, with Luciano Lanfranchi (Italy). In March 2010, she improved her skills on Chopinian piano, with Professor Alycia Paleta Bugaj from the “Fr. Chopin” Conservatory in Warsaw. She has won prizes at various competitions. She has given recitals in: Ploiești, Bucharest, Dorohoi, Câmpina, Ploiești, Sinaia, as well as in Hungary and France.
