End of season at PeleÈ™ Castle

 

At the end of 8 months in which the highest quality music was integrated into a space full of history and beauty, the 6th edition of the "Sound of Music" Season comes to an end. Sunday, October 23, 2016, from 4 p.m., with a truly regal sound.

One of the most appreciated Romanian pianists, Constantin Sandu, will perform in the music hall of PeleÈ™ Castle, two of Beethoven's most beloved opuses: Moon Sonata and Appasionata.

Pianist Constantin Sandu trained under the guidance of masters: Sonia Rătescu, Constantin Niţu, Constantin Ionescu-Vovu and other notable personalities – Sequeira Costa, Dimitri Başkirov, Helena Sá e Costa and Tania Achot. His artistic personality combines rigor and respect for the musical text with a poetic sensitivity and a fascinating sonic imagination. Since his debut with the orchestra, at the age of 14, he has maintained an intense solo activity in various countries in Europe and Asia, garnering public applause and praise from specialized critics. He is a laureate of the International Competitions of Senigallia, Viotti-Valsesia, Paloma O'Shea – Santander, Epinal, Maria Canals – Barcelona and has performed in prestigious International Festivals: George Enescu – Bucharest, Chopin – Paris, Santander, Festival de primavera – Seville, Ayamonte, Internationale Trossinger Tastentage, Muziksev – Izmir, Aveiro, Figueira da Foz, Espinho, Guimarães, etc. He collaborates regularly with orchestras in Romania and Portugal, has been the soloist of important European orchestras, such as Arthur Rubinstein in Lodz, the Halle Philharmonic, the Bodensee-Symphonie-Orchester in Konstanz, the National Orchestra of Belarus, the Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra in Kiev, the National Philharmonic of Moldova, the National Orchestra of Porto and has performed under the baton of remarkable conductors: Cristian Mandeal, Horia Andreescu, Emanuel Elenescu, Petre Sbârcea, Ludovic Bacs, Ilya Stupel, Thomas Koncz, Victor Dubrovski, Emil Haciaturian, Meir Minsky, Mark Stephenson, Heribert Beissel, Ivan Parik, Marc Tardue, Johen Wehner, Robert E. Luther, Didier Benetti, Piero Bellugi, Rinaldo Muratori, Daisuke Soga, etc. He has made numerous recordings for radio and television. He has also recorded various CDs as a soloist (Beethoven, Albeniz and Gershwin, Portuguese and Romanian Masterpieces for Piano), in chamber music groups and with the orchestra (Mozart and AJ Fernandes). He has been a member of numerous juries of International Competitions (Épinal, Vianna da Motta – Lisbon, Cidade do Porto, Ciudad de Toledo, Viotti-Valsesia, Pinerollo – Cittá della Cavalleria, Helena Sá e Costa – Aveiro, Propiano – Bucharest, Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe – Porto) and has taught piano training courses in various countries. In 2006, he obtained the title of Doctor of Music, and currently lives in Portugal, where he is head of the piano department of the Higher School of Music and Performing Arts in Porto.
