"The ceremony began according to tradition at 9 am with a divine service, at the monastery church, in the presence of the Metropolitan Primate and numerous high Romanian and foreign dignitaries. In front of the castle, a battalion of hunters with flags and music gave the honors.

After the blessing of the water and the singing of a Te-Deum, General Crețeanu, head of the King's Military House, read the following inauguration document:

After two years of tireless effort, in a battle with an unstable land, crossed by springs, we succeeded in laying the foundation of this building at the foot of Bucegi, in the year of salvation 1875, and the ninth of Our Reign.

Construction stopped during the War for the Independence of Romania. We entered this house of ours in the year of salvation, 1883, and in the 17th century of Our Reign, we gave it a name: Peleș Castle.

This document, transcribed on a parchment with artistic letters by the Queen herself (…) was inscribed by the Sovereigns, the Metropolitan Primate, the various personalities present, etc. On that occasion, a commemorative medal, very rare today, executed by the great Berlin engraver Kullrich, was also distributed to the guests.
