Loghi impresioneaz\u0103 deopotriv\u0103 critica vremii, gr\u0103bit\u0103 s\u0103-l compare cu Arnold B\u00f6cklin, unul dintre promotorii Simbolismului german.<\/div><div>Kimon Loghi se na\u015fte \u00een anul 1873 la Serres, \u00een Macedonia. \u00cen anul 1890, se \u00eenscrie la \u015ecoala Na\u0163ional\u0103 de Arte Frumoase din capitala Vechiului Regat, unde studiaz\u0103 cu Theodor Aman \u015fi Frederick Storck. Impregnat de valorile academismului, dar m\u0103cinat de \u00eentreb\u0103ri f\u0103r\u0103 r\u0103spuns, Loghi porne\u015fte \u00een c\u0103utarea propriei sale identit\u0103\u0163i artistice.<\/div><div>\u00cen anul 1894, este admis la Academia Regal\u0103 de Art\u0103 din M\u00fcnchen. Mediul academic bavarez, at\u00e2t de diferit de cel rom\u00e2nesc, pare s\u0103-l captiveze \u00eentrutotul. Un an mai t\u00e2rziu, se num\u0103r\u0103 printre fondatorii Societ\u0103\u0163ii ,,Tinerimea artistic\u0103\u201d. La expozi\u0163ia de debut, vernisat\u0103 la 1 martie 1902, ,,Orientala\u201d se afla din nou pe simeze, spre deliciul cronicarilor \u015fi a pasiona\u0163ilor de art\u0103. Fin\u0103 cunosc\u0103toare a Simbolismului german \u015fi a Jugendstil-ului, al c\u0103ror vocabular l-a deprins la Darmstadt, Principesa Maria achizi\u0163ioneaz\u0103 lucrarea. \u00cen anii urm\u0103tori, cinci dintre tablourile artistului, trei portrete, o scen\u0103 religioas\u0103 \u015fi una rural\u0103, ajung s\u0103 decoreze interioarele castelului Peli\u015for.<\/div><div>P\u00e2nza \u015fi-a p\u0103strat intact p\u00e2n\u0103 azi misterul de odinioar\u0103. Femeia din tablou, cu identitate misterioas\u0103 \u015fi apari\u0163ie exotic\u0103 sugereaz\u0103 mai degrab\u0103 un model urban. Discret piept\u0103nat\u0103, cu p\u0103rul prins la spate, din care st\u0103 s\u0103 se desprind\u0103 o \u015fuvi\u0163\u0103, cu corset str\u00e2ns \u015fi m\u00e2neci vaporoase, umerii \u015fi g\u00e2tul artistic dezgoli\u0163i, ,,Orientala\u201d aminte\u015fte mai degrab\u0103 de pariziana cochet\u0103. \u00cen periplul s\u0103u prin capitala Luminilor, Kimon Loghi a cunoscut desigur, mediile artistice pariziene, aflate \u00een plin\u0103 efervescen\u0163\u0103 creatoare. De\u015fi toat\u0103 via\u0163a a negat cu \u00eend\u00e2rjire orice influen\u0163\u0103 de factur\u0103 francez\u0103 asupra operei sale, Loghi nu a putut r\u0103m\u00e2ne deta\u015fat de simbolismul idilic al lui Moreau, de fascina\u0163ia sa pentru Orient \u015fi subiecte mitologice. Nu-i sunt str\u0103ine nici produc\u0163iile prerafaelite, cu care ,,Orientala\u201d pare tipologic, \u00eenrudit\u0103.<\/div><div>\u00cens\u0103 experien\u0163a m\u00fcnchenez\u0103 \u00ee\u015fi pune cel mai bine amprenta asupra portretului. Contaminat de simbolismul operei lui Arnold B\u00f6cklin, de predilec\u0163ia acestuia pentru mister, sentimentalitate \u015fi fatalism, Kimon Loghi recurge \u00een ,,Orientala\u201d la lumina enigmatic\u0103, generatoare de accente dramatice. Femeia pare s\u0103 se sprijine, a\u015fa \u00eenc\u00e2t jum\u0103tatea superioar\u0103 a portretului se \u00eenv\u0103luie gradual \u00een penumbr\u0103. Artistul mizeaz\u0103 pe contrastul astfel creat cu albul imaculat al pielii, marc\u00e2nd centrul de interes al tabloului. Umerii rotunzi \u015fi tineri, osatura adolescentin\u0103, g\u00e2tul puternic \u015fi \u00eencordat fac aluzie la portretele feminine ale lui Franz von Stuck. Artistul nu putea r\u0103m\u00e2ne imun la farmecul \u00eentunecat al picturii lui Franz von Stuck. De altfel, Loghi concepe ,,Orientala\u201d \u00een atelierul profesorului s\u0103u, cu a c\u0103rui oper\u0103 era pe deplin familiarizat.<\/div><div>Privit din perspectiva modelelor germane, portretul poate la fel de bine s\u0103 \u00eentruchipeze prototipul feminin, \u00eembr\u0103cat \u00eentr-un foarte cosmetizat costum bavarez. Aceast\u0103 posibil\u0103 reveren\u0163\u0103 f\u0103cut\u0103 amorului-propriu local nu a sc\u0103pat criticii m\u00fcncheneze. \u015ei compara\u0163ia nu ar fi deloc hazardat\u0103. Desprins din Simbolismul german, influen\u0163at de impresionismul francez \u015fi de naturalism, Jugendstil-ul g\u0103se\u015fte \u00een personajul feminin unul dintre subiectele predilecte. Reprezentat\u0103 \u00een postura de muz\u0103, femeia are rolul s\u0103 induc\u0103 \u00een privitor sentimente extreme. Virginal\u0103 sau ,,femme fatale\u201d, copil\u0103 inocent\u0103 sau doamn\u0103 rafinat\u0103, ea \u00eentruchipeaz\u0103 idealul feminit\u0103\u0163ii, transfigurat prin spiritualizare sau erotism.<\/div><div>,,Orientala\u201d lui Kimon Loghi se situeaz\u0103 \u00eentr-o zon\u0103 a echivocului. Aflat\u0103 \u00een prim\u0103vara existen\u0163ei, necunoscuta din tablou pare stingherit\u0103 de b\u0103nuiala propriei sale feminit\u0103\u0163i. Impactul privirii ei ad\u00e2nci, diminuat p\u00e2n\u0103 la obnubilare de clar-obscur, \u00een maniera unui S\u00e9rusier sau Bonnard, mut\u0103 accentul de pe senzorial pe idee, pe semnifica\u0163ie.<\/div><div>,,Orientala\u201d nu este doar o t\u00e2n\u0103r\u0103 frumoas\u0103, ci protagonista unei opere enigmatice, \u00een care joac\u0103 rolul Sfinxului.
