The international program “MUSIC: a Bridge Between People” has arrived in Romania this year, promoting cultural exchange between countries in South-Eastern Europe through classical music. A dialogue across the meridians is taking place in Romania during this period, with a program dedicated to chamber music and the participation of guest artists from Germany, Ireland, Italy/Japan, Kosovo, the Republic of Moldova and Romania.
On Saturday, August 4, at 4:00 PM, a new concert within this project will take place at the Peles Castle Concert Hall, supported by the NewBorn Quartet. Formed by leading musicians of the young generation of artists from Kosovo, the quartet will perform works by composers WA Mozart, Tomor Berisha and Astor Piazzolla on Saturday. They will also be joined by three participants of the ICon Arts Transilvania Academy: Rebecca Germany (USA), Alexandru Matei and Maria Galațchi (R. Moldova) coordinated by professors Annemarie Condacse and David Malis.
The concert is organized by UCIMR, in partnership with the Peleș National Museum, a project co-financed by AFCN. Admission will be free, by reservation at peles.ro@gmail.com. The event will end with an invitation to a tasting of organic wines offered by Romanian producers Senator Wine.
Due to its 10-year activity in supporting young performers and following its participation in 2017, the Romanian Union of Musicians' Interpretative Creation was invited to expand this project to Romania, so four string quartets were selected, from Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Kosovo and one from Japan/Italy, to benefit from this program.
“Music: a Bridge Between People” is a European cooperation project involving associations from different countries (Romania, Italy and the Former Yugoslavia), with the common goal of facilitating common professional and artistic experiences for exceptional young musicians from the region.
Also, young artists will benefit from masterclasses in Romania under the guidance of professors Adrian Mantu, cellist of RTÉ ConTempo - the representative quartet of Irish Radio and Television, and Reinbert Evers, German guitarist and chamber music specialist (University of Münster).
The Sinaia recital is organized by the Peleș National Museum and the Union of Interpretive Creation of Musicians in Romania through the "Opportunities at Home" program dedicated to exceptional young musicians who thus find real opportunities to assert themselves here, at home, on stages in Romania.
A first concert took place on July 17 in Prizren, Kosovo, featuring an orchestra of young artists invited from 10 countries in the region. And on July 27, the Festivities Hall of the ASTRA Library in Sibiu hosted the Moldo Young Quartet concert from the Republic of Moldova.
The next concert will take place on Monday, August 6, at 2:00 PM in Viscri (in the fortification area) and will be performed by Blanc Quartet (Japan/Italy), part of a larger event that also promotes local traditions and European heritage, the fortified church in Viscri being included on the list of UNESCO world heritage monuments.
The “Music: a Bridge Between People” project marks a true itinerary in the region, so the artists will perform the final concert for the orchestra this fall in Italy, at the IPSIA Forlì – Cesena Festival.
The events are also promoted through the ICon Arts Transilvania International Festival.
